Self-Care and Health Information
Not every health concern needs a GP appointment. This guide can help you find the right level of care, first time.
When to Treat Yourself at Home
Minor coughs, colds, and other short-term illnesses often get better on their own within a few days, with rest, fluids, and over-the-counter treatment where appropriate. Your local pharmacist can advise on suitable options.
When to Contact Us
If symptoms persist beyond what you’d expect, get worse, or you’re concerned about a change in a long-term condition, please get in touch. It’s always better to ask than to wait.
When to Use NHS 111
For urgent but non-life-threatening problems outside of our opening hours, NHS 111 can advise you on the best next step, and can book you into an appropriate service if needed.
When to Call 999
For a medical emergency — such as chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, or heavy uncontrolled bleeding — always call 999 or go straight to A&E.
